Lana, you recently performed at Kim and Kanye’s wedding. How was it?
Great! I’ve only played three songs, including “Young & Beautiful”. That is their song.
How was their mood?
Very laid back. Even their invitation to me was exciting. Kanye just said, “Just come and sing.”
Would you like to get married?
I’d love to. And I would like to have children. Hopefully it’ll happen sometime.
At the beginning of the year there were rumours that you and your boyfriend were engaged?
We aren’t currently together.
What do you mean currently?
He is a wonderful person. But there are some things which he has to deal with. I will not go into detail. This was hard on our relationship, I no longer felt free. Let’s see how it continues from here.
You’ve just released your new album “Ultraviolence” – a great success. What do you expect more of this year?
Nothing anymore. The album is finished, it took a long time and demands a lot from me. I have done what I wanted to do. After the last festival the whole thing is finished for me. What comes next? Completely open.
Is the song “Fucked Up My Way to The Top” really ironic to understand?
I’ll say it this way: It is a mixture. Firstly, there is bitterness toward what some people think about me. Secondly, the lyrics are about different experiences that have influenced my life.
Your songs and your music are heavy and gloomy. When were you last really happy?
When I held my new album in my hands. Even if it sounds a little cliché. It felt like a manifestation of all the hustle and bustle and beauty of the past few years. Otherwise, I am happy when I drive down the Pacific Highway listening to The Eagles really loud.
